chrome grew some

Over on the Chromium Blog (Chromium is the open source version of Google's Chrome web browser) they have announced their intention to drop the H.264 video codec support from the <video> tag in favor of putting more energy behind WebM and Theora. Talking about a ballzy move, a great show of support for open standards and open source.

Like John Gruber I fear this could hurt battery life on mobiles. Only time will tell but ultimately I hope they succeed.
